M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records, Inc. Produces First Annual San Diego Christian Film Festival Awards Gala
San Diego, CA –
San Diego’s own M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records, Inc. had the honor of producing The First Annual San Diego Christian Film Festival (SDCFF) held December 27 – 30, 2010 at the Lawrence Family Jewish Center in La Jolla, CA. The event drew in over 1,200 attendees and marked the beginning an event people are eager to see continue in San Diego. “This could have never taken place in Hollywood. San Diego is the perfect location to have it,” said actor and filmmaker Corbin Bernsen of “Psych” and “L.A. Law”.
Movie critic Scott Brennan of ChristianAnswers.net reiterated Bernsen’s sentiment. “The First Annual San Diego Christian Film Festival was one of the most well produced film festivals I have been to,” said Brennan. Each night visitors to the Film Festival were treated to this year’s award-winning films, heard from film industry experts and enjoyed entertainment provided by some of San Diego’s most talented gospel artists, musicians, choirs and praise dancers.
The San Diego Christian Film Festival drew large crowds nightly and ended on a high note with Awards Night which consisted of Film Screenings, a workshop, an Industry Insider Roundtable, Gala Reception and the San Diego Christian Film 2010 Awards Ceremony in the Main Theatre. Recording artists Evangel and J. Pierre provided entertainment. There were also guest appearances by Joe Henschel, the San Diego Signing Choir, Robynne French, Higher Authority and the San Diego Multicultural Gospel Community Choir.
The keynote speaker for the evening was actor and executive producer of the 2006 hit move, “The Pursuit of Happyness,” Mark Clayman. Among the night’s presenters were Corbin Bernsen, Ken Wales, a producer of “Amazing Grace,” Simon Swart, General Manager and Executive VP of Fox Home Entertainment and Larry “Preacherman” Thompson, owner and general manager of San Diego gospel radio station KURS 1040 AM. “The last night’s celebration was awesome and by far the best closing ceremony I have had the pleasure of attending,” said Charles Cobb of Circle of Belief Productions.
Filmmaker sisters Karen and Keva Keyes were happy to be back in San Diego. They were first here in January 2010 when their film “Letters From Home” was featured in the San Diego Black Film Festival. “We are blessed and honored to have our film selected to be seen at so many festivals this year,” said Karen Keyes. “God has brought us full circle. We started out in San Diego and now we are ending the year here with the San Diego Christian Film Festival.”
San Diego Christian Film Festival executive team member Perry Storey sums it up perfectly. “Everything went so wonderfully. People are amazed that this is our first ever film festival,” she said. “God is just good like that.” M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records, Inc. is a Christian owned and operated music recording and development company, whose mission is to produce positive and inspirational music that is dedicated to spreading the Word of God .
