Elvert Waltower Jr., a San Diego native, was destined to entertain people through music. From an early age, one could not imagine him doing anything else. Growing up, he was always singing and performing for his family and church. In his younger years, Waltower was influenced by traditional Gospel music, but was blown away when he was exposed to one of Gospel music's premiere dance groups, Adrian Ewings and the Steps of Praise (SOP.) He traveled the country as a dancer with SOP and soon became acclimated to contemporary gospel music. Heavily influenced by Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, James Brown, and old school funk greats like Earth Wind and Fire and Cameo, he began to write, compose and produce his own songs. This quickly caught the attention of his peers and Waltower was on his way to fulfilling a destiny.

In 2004, he decided to branch out and start what some have called the next big thing in Gospel music, Nu ViZion. Creating music that touches both the heart and the dance floor, Elvert Waltower Jr. & Nu ViZion has developed a sound he likes to call “Gospel Funk.” He has a hit single “Always” on the M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Compilation CD “Now or Never” and has produced mega hits like “Imagine” and “I'll Wait” for national recording artist J. Pierre and other artists.

In 2011 he teamed up with a new group of singers, musicians, and M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records and is ready to go to the next level. Fans will be pleased to know that Waltower is now in the recording studio with Nu ViZion working on a new project. “They are better than ever!” he says.

So get your speakers ready, your radios locked in, your iPods and iTunes up to date, because Elvert Waltower Jr. and Nu ViZion have arrived.
